We left Great Falls this morning after spending the night in a Kmart Parking lot, not sure just how far we would get before stopping for the night. We got all the way to Canmore, Canada in the province of Alberta, and at the entrance to the Banff National Park of Canada which is the beginning of the Alcan (Alaska Canada Highway), now simply called The Alaskan Highway.

At the border
We elected to not go to glacier Park. We were told that there was still a lot of snow up there and many roads impassable since they don’t plow most of them. At any rate we would have to park the BoomerBus outside the park and travel in the truck. Most of the roads are closed to anything over 21 ft.
Coming across the border, we were just asked a lot of questions and didn’t have to be searched. I guess we look honest (ha). They checked our passports and Boomers vaccination card and asked if we had any of the banned items, ie. drugs, guns, alcohol or cigarettes, etc. We said no, and he wanted to know where we were going and how long we would be in Canada. We said we were headed to Fairbanks, Alaska and would return in Sept.
We stopped at the first visitor center and met our new two best friends, Stephanie and Bailey. They helped plan our route and gave us pamphlets, maps and books with all kinds of information. That was a good thing since our Canadian map was 15 years old. There was also a mini museum in the center. It was pretty good.
Stephenie and Bailey. Wonderful girls that helped us plan our trip through Canada.
Who's got who?

It’s a shame we cant get the website to transfer the Dash Cam videos. Some of the scenic views are just breath taking. But we’ll add what photos we can and hope they help. Until we can figure out how to share them, we’ll plan to put them on a dvd.

Today as we were driving across a vast flatland, there was a warning sign with a truck and a 6% downward grade immediately ahead. There was no time to turn on the dash cam or get the camera it happened so fast. We rounded a curve and dropped down into the most beautiful oasis ever seen. It was the little Marias River with lush trees, greenery and a campground. As soon as we crossed the river, we were up an out of it and back on that flatland again. Sure hate that we didn’t get it recorded. Guess we just have to keep the camera on and ready to go at any time. We will work on that.
