Grand Teton National Park and Yellowstone National Park--Old Faithful

Wednesday 21 May, 2014

What an absolutely wonderful and gorgeous day. When I went into the Grand Teton National Park campground office to pay up for last night, the attendant  told me the park was closed and wouldn't open for another day. I said "I opened it last night and since I stayed here, I needed to pay".  I didn't know it was closed  as there were no signs posted. She said no, they weren't open and she wouldn't charge me. After thanking her very much, I said "well! put a note in your book that Jesse James snuck in and spent the night". She got a laugh out of it and wished us a good trip.

Breakfast was in a picnic area with the Teton Mountains to admire and then headed for Yellowstone Park. The drive was just beautiful, there was still  four to five feet of snow on the mountains yet the roads were clear. Speed limit was 45 all the way through and there were plenty of pull offs to allow the tourists (us) to enjoy the scenic views.

We arrived at the Yellowstone Park's  "Old faithful"  just in time to watch it spew. Must have been 1000 people there to watch each time it blew.. We were surprised since it was still early in the "tourist season" It was even more spectacular than seeing it in a movie . We decided to watch it again and the second time it really blew high and long. It's a sight we will never forget. Wish we could get this site to transfer videos. Can't figure it out.   "HELP", RICKY

People we met from CA--Cindy & Harold, and had a nice visit with them.

Afterwards, it was time to start looking for a campground for the night. It was a two hour drive to get to Fishing Bridge Campground  and we were lucky that we called ahead as it was their  next to last spot  that could accommodate a forty foot motor home. We weren't impressed with it. No lighting and it was extremely dark, too dark to go outside because of possible bears in the area.
