2015-08-25 Cherokee Indian Reservation

The village of Cherokee is located inside of the Indian reservation and as such is not under the jurisdiction of the Federal Government. The Cherokee's have their own Council of laws and provide all services under their control. The  state and federal police has no jurisdiction inside the reservation unless the Council allows it. their laws are similar and you wouldn't know the difference.

initially, we stayed at the Happy Holiday RV Campground. A  very nice and well manicured park with a swimming pool, entertainment center where bluegrass festivals are held and movies shown, a pond that allows fishing (it's stocked)and a flock of Ducks swimming in the pond. It was quiet and peaceful with two streams (one on either side) for fishing(one is stocked by the reservation) also.

The motto (symbol) of the village is the Black Bear. There are several mounted around the village and decorated with different motifs. We captured some of them.

Cherokee is a village for tourists as it includes a huge,  24/7  Harrad's Gambling Casino, hotel complex, restaurant complex, etc. 90% of the remaining establishments in the area

are gift shops, motels, RV parks and a beautiful Indian Museum, a Indian Village Educational presentation and an outside performance called "Out of the Woods". We visited the museum, were unable to attend the village play and the other's season ended 15 Aug..
