Another rainy day, all day. We left Hope around 11 AM and took our time driving to Seward. Along the way, at Moose Pass, we did see a water wheel that was powering an old fashioned axe sharpener with a stone smooth newell. Yep, you’re right, I sharpened my knife with it. works great..

Arriving in Seward we turned toward the Exit Glacier National Park and Parked in a pull off along the swift moving "Resurrection River". The water is grey since it is coming down from the Exit Glacier.(odd name for a glacier)
It is named for it being the exit glacier for the first recorded crossing of the Harding ice field in 1940. It is the smaller of the glaciers and the only one that you can drive almost to the base to see it. We’re going to do that tomorrow.
After parking the motor home, we drove to the Visitors Center to see what’s happening in Seward. Not much info from them, but we did go to the Alaska Sealife Center. They are the only sea life rescue center in Alaska. They also try to rehabilitate wildlife and release them back to their habitat. As such, they had an assortment there they were working with and some that would be transferred to another aquarium since they wouldn’t survive in their natural habitat due to injuries, etc.
There were presentations and movies about their conservation and rescue efforts that were interesting. Here are some photos of what we saw.

Puffins
