2015-07-08 Carbonear

                                            Carbonear

A visit to Carbonear  gave us a little more insight on what the area was like  during the turn of the century and their ancient history.  We first stopped at Rorke Store Museum, a one time hardware store.   It had also been a Cod processing and shipping stage (workplace) that had old  fishing hardware, nets and some old furniture. The name of the exhibit was "Balancing the Scales" and had a scale   on display that showed how they transported and weighed the Cod. One display was an excellent artist created statues that was explicit.

We also visited the old train station only to find that it wasn't about trains. it was about the area during early (1700) times until more recent. Our tour guides, Zack Harnum and Mackenzie Lambert were very knowledgable of the local history and discussed all the exhibits in detail. Both, I think, were in their first year of college
